SFMOMA has always been a forward-looking institution, dedicated not only to understanding the past, but also to embracing the future. Now we're looking ahead to the next phase in the museum's evolution. The centerpiece of the Campaign to Transform SFMOMA is an expansion that will more than double our galleries and provide almost six times as much public space as our current building, allowing us to showcase an expanded SFMOMA collection along with the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection of contemporary art. But SFMOMA's transformation is about much more than expanding the museum's physical footprint. It's about enhancing the experiences we offer our visitors and sharing our love for art with people from the Bay Area community and beyond.
Construction of our expansion begins this summer. From June 3, 2013, through early 2016, SFMOMA will be on the go, presenting new art experiences around the Bay Area as our building is transformed.
